Republican Slams Rep. Pressley Over Call for ‘Carrying the Water for Anarchists Looting and Robbing’

As you well know, violence and mayhem have been going on en masse in much our major cities since late May when George Floyd, a black man, died in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota. You would think seeing this destruction would push many politicians and those in Congress to work harder to come to a solution that is best for all. However, it seems some don’t mind the chaos or even loss of life.

And some, like Democratic Representative Ayanna Pressley, are even encouraging it.

Over the weekend, the Massachusetts lawmaker made an appearance on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” in which she spoke of President Trump’s recent decisions on the next coronavirus aid package that is being discussed in Congress. Naturally, as a Democrat and a “squad” member, she has come out strongly against his position both on this topic and just about everything he has ever done or said.

And she is encouraging everyone else to do the same, including taking to the streets to create even more “unrest.”

She said, “I am looking to the public. This is as much about public outcry and organizing and mobilizing and applying pressure so that this GOP-led Senate, and that these governors that continued to carry water for this administration, putting the American people in harm’s way, turning a deaf ear to the needs of our families and our communities, hold ‘em accountable. Make the phone calls, send the emails, show up. You know, there needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there’s unrest in our lives, and unfortunately, there’s plenty to go around.”

The main argument here is that the Democrats want the United States Postal Service to receive a considerable amount of funding in the next COVID relief package, primarily, so they afford to host nationwide mail-in voting come November.

However, Trump and much of the GOP don’t think this a good idea because of all the problems that we’ve seen with mail-in voting and absentee ballots as of late. Therefore, Trump has threatened to veto any package that includes such money for the USPS.

Pressley, like most of her crew, thinks this is just another political ploy to help Trump win the election.

Now, she is correct in thinking that it is the job of Congress and all US citizens to hold those in leadership accountable. And protests are certainly a way to do that.

But “unrest in the streets?”

The very word “unrest” implies something completely decidedly more than civil protest.

Just look at the definition, according to Merriam-Webster.

“Protest” is “the act of objecting or a gesture of disapproval… especially: a usually organized public demonstration of disapproval.”

“Unrest,” on the other hand, is “a situation in which many of the people in a country are angry and hold protests or act violently.”

Now, as you can see, the two are definitely related. Unrest can include protests. However, it can also include violence.

Pressley doesn’t seem to care which one she gets. She just wants her voice or her party to be heard.

It doesn’t matter how many innocents are shot, how many businesses are destroyed, or neighborhoods burned. It doesn’t matter how many nights of chaos our country is forced to experience or how many people lose their livelihoods or family members. All that matters is that she gets a win for the Democrats in November.

But as we all know, “unrest” has been happening for a while. Portland, Oregon has seen going on 80 consecutive nights of it, in which buildings have been burned, people beaten unconscious, and 10-pound rocks hurled at police officers just doing their jobs.

In Chicago, “unrest” caused the death of five innocents this past weekend, as well as the injury of 59 others. New York City saw nearly 50 shot recently due to “unrest.”

And what has it done for America? Has it made our communities safer, our lives freer, or our needs met?

Absolutely not. Instead, it has given us the exact opposite. We are slaves to our fear, sacrificing our needs and those of our family members because it’s too dangerous on our streets.

But Pressley hasn’t had enough. She wants more. And all in the name of holding Republicans accountable.

It’s just too bad that we all see through her.
